The idea was to build a board that was easy to set up, yet would make use of the FX-loop of my amplifiers (Engl Ironball and Marshall Silver Jubilee). I prefer flat boards with risers over angled boards, and wanted to use a patch box with buffered inputs and outputs as well as a multicore to the amp. The GE-7 will be replaced either by an OCD or a Zendrive (cannot decide), the chain will be:Instrument - Buffered In - Tuner - Drive - Orange Compressor - Sonic Stomp (BBE Maximizer) - Wah - Funky Buddha (Mutron III) - Amp IN - Amp SEND - Volume Pedal - HOF Mini - Tap Tempo Tremolo - Alter Ego - Ditto Looper - Amp RETURN. In the lower right corner is the footswitch for the Engl Ironball, which also works for channel selection on the Marshall (if I use that amp). If I use other amps without an FX loop, I can simply bridge 'Amp IN' to 'Amp Send' and connect the 'Amp Return' to the Input of that amp (everything is in front of the amp than). This is the Pedalboard:This shows the multicore connection between board and amp:This is the patchbox. In this video from VertexMason recommends to have buffers at the input, and output of the board.
As I wasn't sure about this, I build this patchbox with four Centaur Klon buffers and four switches for them (true bypass if disabled). Usually, I only use the input buffer, though. It looks a bit like a rat nest, but works fine. I also decided to get coloured plastic nuts for the jacks on the patchbox as well as for my amplifiers for easier setup. The multicore cables are colour coded with zip ties. The patch box also passes the connection to the footswitch for the Engl (2 Stereo Jacks for Reverb, Boost, Lead, Master Volume Boost). The multicore is a Cordial 8x2x0,22 CMG8Rear of the amp. The white cable has a female connector, which is used to connect the input on the front side with a patch cable.Patch cable for the input to multicore.Colour codes on another amp (Marshall Jubilee):Some mechanical details: The riser is mounted on two power supplies (keeping them in place as well).

I am using drive-in nuts on the back side of the board.Handles and aluminum edges from a hardware store:3M Dual Lock. Not a good choice, if you want to exchange pedals, but very well for 'stable' builds.Concerning the recommendations from Mason, I have a good feeling now:list type=decimalliUse dedicated Buffers. New compressor in this week from Effectrode to match my preamp pedal and traded ET ModFactor and TimeFactors for two H9s, made footswitches to match.Pitchblack tuner Blackbird preamp PC-2A comp ET H9 'A' w/exp pedal ET H9 'B' ET SPACE reverb.H9 'A' w/pedal has Wah, Choruses, Rotary, Tremolo, Pitch, etc. H9 'B' has Delays, Looper, and special fx. I like the SPACE as separate stand-alone reverb and final device in chain because it has very strong clean (stereo) output with switchable line levels.
