Photo: Paul Sakuma / APReyes Daniel Ruiz, 34, of Tracy, indicted by a grand jury in April, pleaded guilty in federal court in San Jose to a felony charge of unlawful computer intrusion. The charge is punishable by up to five years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced in February.Prosecutors said Ruiz acknowledged using internal Yahoo systems and cracking passwords to gain access to about 6,000 accounts.

He particularly targeted younger women, including friends and work colleagues, prosecutors said.They said he copied images and videos in the accounts, stored the data at his home, and used the material to gain access to the users’ iCloud, Gmail, Facebook, Dropbox and other online accounts in search of additional salacious material. When his employer caught on, prosecutors said, Ruiz destroyed the computer and hard drive where he had stored the images.His lawyer, Mary Ann Bird, said Ruiz “feels terrible.
