Last week we published our first GIMP post “” and saw a great appreciation from our readers. So this week, i would like to share with you 1000+ high-Resolution GIMP brushes that will be perfect for any project you may happen to be working on. Also you will find some useful tutorial to teach you how to create your first GIMP brush-set and how to convert into GIMP brushes and more. Please note that Photoshop Brushes are now Fully Compatible with Gimp 2.4 and up. So you can now use any PS brush in your GIMP software. For another huge collection of Photoshop brushes, you might find some really.Important: Licenses of every brush set varies, so be sure to check that information before using them.1.

Grunge Brush set 1.1. In Windows XPInstall GIMP brushesGIMP Brushes and gradients are installed similarly – extract and drop the brushes into C:Document and Settings.gimp-brushes and gradients into C:Document and Settings.gimp-gradientsIn Mac OS XBrushes can be installed by dropping them (.gbr files) into the brush search path that is specified in GIMP’s preferences. If you have not tweaked anything, this is usually/Users/username/.gimp-2.x/brushes/where 2.x denotes the version number of GIMP you are using (version number is visible in the GIMP startup splash page). Note that you should replace ‘username’ with your short username (not the full name).Install GIMP brushes in LinuxGo to your Home folder. You have to make hidden files/folders visible, so hit Ctrl+H.

Go to the directory named.gimp-2.x (where 2.x is version number of GIMP you are using). Within that folder, there are subfolders, one of which is brushes. Drop your brushes to that folderSource:.

They work perfectly for me. A couple broken/dead links on the site (including the one that shows someone who does not know; how to install them, lol. Bummer for some). They are nice brushes though, ty.@Roxxie: In case you don’t know how to install them here is the way (for a Windows OS):Go to your downloads folder (in Documents/My Documents) and find the zip file.

Extract it (it should extract to Documents/My Documents by default, as a single folder containing the brushes). Your going to want to find the folder for the brushes in your Documents folder and leave it open as you do the next step. Then go to Computer/My Computer, (C:) Drive, Program Files, Find gimp and open it’s folder. Under the newest version, you’ll see a folder called share.

Open that and go into the one inside there that says gimp (yes, this again). Their is a 2.0 folder in that oneand finally inside of that folder named 2.0 is one that says brushes.you either right click and cut the whole folders (not the individual brushes) and paste them into that brush folder, or drag them over and drop them in (try not to drop them into an existing folderthere should be some empty space at the bottom).Keep in mind gimp was not originally made for windows which uses a lot of automated installers and wizards usually.

Adding new brushes, fonts and plugins is often a manual process. Don’t over load your gimp with things you never use either or it will take 5-10 minutes to start up.You might want to make a desktop folder to extract gimp add-ons to that will make it simpler to put things in gimp and pull it out. Another thing to know is gimp won’t change it’s layout due to these actions while the program itself is open. So make sure it is closed or that your restart your gimp after you affect changes like this. The good news is most PS stuff can be dropped into gimp in a similar fashion (it’s all about finding the right folder to drag the thing you need over to). So gimp is like a PS you can build to your needs rather then have a ton of stuff on it you don’t understand or never use.

Pretty nice the only thing isA. You can only do solid colorsB. The brush stays the same as you drag itThis ma ysound a bit picky, but it would be nice if you could choose a couple different colors for each section of the brush. For instance, having the inside section of the lightning brushes white, then the outer part a different color (say, purple). And if there could be a script put in some brushes “Like the vine brush on Gimp” where it changes the brush as you stroke it so it looks more realistic, that would be awesome.Otherwise, AWESOME BRUSHES.

On this occasion we have the very pleasant opportunity to present the new album of the Japanese assembly ELECTRIC ASTURIAS, which is titled “Trinity” and was published at the end of last January: without a doubt, this work seriously aspires to be one of the items Japanese most prominent in the progressive world of this year 2019. The publication of this album took place at the end of last January under the independently managed production of the band itself. The staff of ELECTRIC ASTURIAS is made up of Yoh Ohyama bass, Satoshi Hirata guitar, Tei Sena violin, Yoshihiro Kawagoe keyboards and Kiyotaka Tanabe drums, so the first one is in charge of the composition of all the pieces that make up this album that we now have in our hands. In fact, 'Circle In The Forest.' In two moments, this man wanted to translate this project into specific groups: one with a folk-progressive orientation called ACOUSTIC ASTURIAS and another with a work scheme oriented towards the eclectic symphonic retro-prog that is the one that concerns us now, ELECTRIC ASTURIAS. The debut of ACOUSTIC ASTURIAS took place in 2004 with the album 'Bird Eyes View' while that of ELECTRIC ASTURIAS was in 2011 with the album 'Fractals'.

The formation of this album is the same that also appears in the following two, 'Elementals' (2014) and 'Trinity'. Well, it's time to stop at the details of this last mentioned album.Lasting almost 7¼ minutes, 'Closed World' opens the album with a captivating and resounding vigor that does not take long to focus on a well-defined musical focus after the start of an emphatic piano enclave at WAKEMAN. Once the assembly is installed in full, the thing clearly resonates with a hybrid of EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER and JEAN-LUC PONTY, something very in line with the first album of the compatriot band KBB and with the fellow FANTASMAGORIA.

The piano and violin divide the moments of prominence for the central motif settlement while the guitar looks for its own showcases, especially to fill spaces alluded to by the keyboard. The flow with which the complex variants of environments are developing is magnificently unpolluted; The insertion of a relaxing romantic passage halfway has an exact mathematical rigor. Then follow the pair of 'Wuthering Heights' and 'Skelter'. The first of these themes follows the track of the first but with more restrained instantiation of expressive energy and a less sumptuous approach to the always expected melodic preciousness. This time, the symphonic factor is paramount with absorbent sufficiency in the design of the melodic recesses in progress: the predominant airs are of symphonic waltz.

There is also a beautiful guitar solo that refers us to a hybrid of Steve Howe and Steve Morse. And in those moments when the violin accentuates the guitar's phrasing, it only increases its beauty. For its part, 'Skelter' is revealed as a graceful jazz-progressive exercise framed within a voraciously sophisticated rhythmic framework that plastically adjusts to the preservation of vigorous vibrations that feed the melodic focus.

The violin shines at ease within a very fluid group dynamism: we have here other great guitar solos, very short, but capable of exposing a genuine claw in their challenges to the synthesizer solos that also hold their own flame. 'Crow' emerges with everything to show the introspective facet of the group with the usual refinement, but, given the new circumstances of musical expressiveness, there is now a crystalline delicacy that prevails in the melodic development of the day. The meticulous way in which the violin and piano are twinned is decisive to mark the melodic development and the internal dynamics of the instruments in block, even determining the general groove guidelines that the battery has to assemble. It is a really precious subject, pure embodiment of romanticism wrapped in its own evocative magic.'

Rogus' occupies a space of 8 ¾ minutes and takes advantage of it very well, basing its thematic development and its central atmospheres in an intermediate point between the endearing lyricism of theme # 4 and the ceremonial ease of theme # 2, perhaps with a greater inclination to the latter. Compared to what happened in 'Crow', the sound block feels fuller because the guitar is given more lucrative spaces, and also, of course, by the way in which the columns of the rhythmic work of the drums and the profuse ornaments of the keyboards explore their own vitalism of the romantic and baroque concerns of the purest symphonic style.

This is one of many highlights of the repertoire, there is no doubt. The marathon 'Gorgon Suite' closes the album with a timely expansion of the essential color of the symphonic proposal of the ensemble.

Its three sections are successively titled 'Medusa', 'Stheno' and 'Euryale'. Since the band's musical game rules are already defined since a long time ago, it shouldn't surprise us that 'Medusa', the first section, focuses on dynamic games of baroque dynamisms in the frameworks and orchestrations of keyboards while the rhythmic pair assumes the strategy of building bridges between symphonism and jazz-rock.

Thus, the violin, guitar and synthesizer solos that come into play at strategic moments fulfill the crucial function of enhancing the unstoppable overall color of the piece, without being too extensive themselves. When is the turn of 'Stheno', the group sets out to explore environments and grooves slightly close to the dark, but it does so in the manner of some KBB or a strange hybrid between AFTER CRYING and FAR CORNER.

The tensions are marked by the pulsating frenzy imposed by the rhythmic pair in communion with the piano in certain sections that seem to connect with the chamber rock-in-opposition paradigm, although it must be pointed out that this proximity focuses exclusively on the type of atmospheres emanating from the current melodic scheme, it does not have a stylistic handle in itself. In fact, this piece is a rare avis (and very good) within the general guidelines of the disc. 'Euryale' puts the finishing touch on the suite and the album, and the thing cannot start better when the prologue consists of a beautiful piano and violin night. When the bass enters to carve soberly with a view to accentuating the harmonic bases of the piano, the group prepares to act fully in an exquisite and majestic thematic enclave that leads us hand in hand towards a well-established crossroads of the RICK WAKEMAN paradigms, CAMEL and THE ENID with connections to the compatriot bands PTF, KBB and TEE. The groove armed by the rhythmic duo for the central body is agile, using at certain times rhythmic breaks without fuss: everything flows very naturally while the violin, keyboards and guitar guide various successive plots of thematic development. What a beautiful final album!'
